Even if you are an extravagant dresser in your social life, there may be times when you want to dial it back a little bit and adopt a more minimalist style. However, this doesn’t mean that you always have to wear things which are basic, plain, and boring. And you will probably already know that your accessories are the perfect way to complete an outfit and give it the finishing touches.
So, let’s look closer at the types of accessories that you can wear when minimalism if your goal.
Simple Jewelry Statement
Just because you are keeping your outfit choices minimalist, it doesn’t mean that you can’t wear the odd statement piece or two. You could opt for some colorful silicone rings or something similar, but you don’t want to overdo it. Perhaps a single stone or a simple metal shape will allow you to express some personality through your outfit without taking away from the clean-cut look that you are going for.
Choose a Single Place for the Statement
If you wear statement pieces all over your body, this is ultimately going to detract from the effect that you are trying to create in the first place. Your main choice will probably end up being between earrings, a necklace, a bracelet or a ring. You could also choose a watch as your statement piece, particularly if it is a big and chunky one. Everything else can be discreet like a pair of stud earrings or a necklace with a thin chain.
Avoid Clashing Pieces
When you are accessorizing, you should avoid clashing pieces where possible. For a minimalist style, it tends to be best if you adopt a monochrome approach to jewelry. If you are going to choose some more colorful pieces, you don’t want to overdo it. Perhaps one or two will be enough.
Stock Up on Minimalist Jewelry Pieces
The whole point of accessories is that you are able to mix and match them as you see fit. So, you need to stock up your jewelry box with pieces which you can wear on the days when you are adopting a minimalist style. Some good examples are thin rings, stud earrings, delicate necklaces, and understated watch. The more choices that you have available, the more that you are going to be able to experiment with them and combine them with different outfit choices.
If you are wearing jewelry in a normally highly layered and bold way, then it can be difficult to adopt a more minimalist approach. But in some situations, this can help to provide a completely different look and style which can show off another side of your personality. And just because you are wearing minimalist clothes, this doesn’t mean that it has to be boring. You can still express yourself in the way that you would like to.
