These past few months, I’ve been working out consistently between pilates, spin, and yoga. As much as I want to try to incorporate hot yoga and hot pilates, I find it a bit gross to be in a packed room combined with heat and sweat. I started working out regularly because I was constantly feeling anxious.
I started feeling anxious because I was putting myself out there to date again. The thought of liking someone and them not liking you back – you know, waiting around for a text or waiting for them to plan the next date. I needed a distraction to get my mind off of it, so I started taking pilates (inspired by my director at work). While this isn’t a good reason to work out (needing a distraction from a boy), I’m glad that it is because it’s now part of my routine. I can also feel the extra energy I have when I don’t work out – I will randomly start doing push-ups at home otherwise I get relentless.
Getting Into a Workout Routine
Getting into a routine was a bit difficult at first but after a few months of consistently working out, seeing results physically and mentally, as well as having friends notice results physically has made me feel even more excited about working out.
I want to share my workout routine as well as how I stay motivated to work out.
My Fitness Routine
I have an unlimited membership at a pilates studio, so I try to take as many pilates classes as possible. I also recently started working two hours a week at a spin studio as a front desk. Because of this, I get free classes as part of my employee perks.
With both pilates and spin, I try to incorporate the two into my routine as much as possible. I like starting my mornings with pilates to help stretch and warm up my body. In the evenings, I like to end my day with a spin class since I typically sweat a lot more in spin than pilates. This lets me style my hair using overnight heatless curls and since pilates isn’t as high-intensive, I don’t have to worry about sweating my hair out before work.
My ideal week consists of the following:
- Sunday: Pilates in the morning
- Monday: Pilates in the morning, spin in the evening
- Tuesday: Pilates in the morning and evening
- Wednesday: Pilates in the morning, spin in the evening
- Thursday: Pilates in the morning and evening
- Friday: Pilates in the morning and evening
- Saturday: Rest Day
How I Stay Motivated to Workout
I want to share how I stay motivated to wake up every day excited for group fitness classes as well as my routine!
A sense of community
Having a community at the studio that you go to will make you feel like you’re a part of something! I’ve tried a lot of different studios and the ones that I usually gravitate towards are the ones where the instructors will remember my name. That makes me excited to come back to their class.
Having an unlimited membership
Being the numbers-driven person I am, I try to go to as many classes as possible to lower my cost per class. I try to make it a goal to have my cost per class lower than the previous month.
For example, my unlimited membership costs $199. Last month, I had one late-cancel and one no-show (I overslept, oops), so my total cost for the month was $229. I took 26 classes, so my cost-per-class was $8.81. This month, I haven’t had any late-cancels or no-shows, and my goal is to take 41 classes so that my cost-per-class would be $4.85!
This is just a fun goal I have because it makes me push myself every day and show up even when I don’t feel like it. Wish me luck!
Creating clear goals and a routine
Having specific goals that are obtainable will help keep a routine. It can be being able to do certain reps of a specific exercise or going to classes a certain number of times a week. For me, similar to the previous point, I have a goal where I try to take more classes than the previous week. Now, it’s set in my routine to go at least 5-7 times a week.
A current goal I’m trying to accomplish is to diversify my workout routine! As of right now, I’m mostly taking pilates and not many other classes. I am making it a goal to add in one spin class a week and then twice a week consistently.
Having fun workout outfits
I saved my favorite for last. I love wearing matching sets to work out in. One of my favorite stores for athletic wear is adidas. adidas offers sports bras for both low-impact and high-impact activities. They also have matching leggings that you can get as a set.
The one I’m wearing is the CoreFlow medium-support bra and adidas yoga studio leggings in silver violet.

Wow this quite the workout. You are really all in! Love the Adidas work out gear. I have to say I don’t bother with dating anymore, I have too many health problems but can’t say I miss it. I don’t miss what you speak of, so draining and such a waste of energy.I would rather put that energy into myself and my pursuits. You look GREAT!
