Okay, so I’m in a pickle, to say the least. Half of me wants to blog as much as I can. I see so many bloggers publishing 3 to 5 blog posts a week, while I’m currently probably sitting at 3 to 5 blogs a MONTH. As much as I want to blog, the only things that are even interesting in my life are probably my little to almost non-existent love life, haha.
Let’s be real, I’m no expert in ANYTHING in life. So, me writing a blog post on “how to be x y and z” is probably not the best. The only thing I’m probably good at is being the awkwardest person that makes everyone feel uncomfortable. I seriously don’t know what else to write. Give me some ideas and I will try to execute all of them!
Anyways, let me tell you about this past MLK Day weekend.
One word: UNEXPECTED. I would also like to add that this has become a series on my blog with this guy. I need you all to catch up with me if you’re interested in reading this story. If you have read my Dates with Demi: The One I Met at the Coffee Shop and The Boy Who I Thought Was The One, then you are all caught up! If not, then I highly suggest at least reading The Boy Who I Thought Was The One.
Thursday before Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend
I received an unexpected text from the Coffee Shop Guy. DUN DUN DUN. He was in town! He asked, “Is it just me or is (the coffee shop) totally different now?” I was shocked. Of course, after what happened last time he was in town, my friends were not happy that he reached out. He asked me if I wanted to get coffee and catch up. I know what you all are probably thinking. NOOOO, DEMI. ABORT ABORT.
Tsk tsk tsk. I’m probably making the worst decision ever, especially after what had happened last time. Trust me, I know what I was getting myself into. Was I proud of myself? Nah, but there was just this energy around me whenever I was with him. I agreed to get coffee with him because, in all honesty, I was just curious to see how his business was going. Especially considering how much I stalked his LinkedIn and company, haha. Oops.
This time, I let him make the decision of when and where to meet up. Told him when I was available and was going to let him take it from there. I learned from my mistakes that you should never ever rearrange your schedule for a boy.
Saturday: Coffee Date
I showed up a tad bit late, well only 5 minutes, haha. Plot twist: he didn’t show up! Nah, I’m just kidding. We got coffee and talked. I was a bit resilient, to be honest. We kind of just talked and honestly, everything was going well. He told me that he wasn’t really sure if I was even going to respond to his text about meeting up for coffee. Apparently, he flipped a coin to help him make the decision, lol.
Oh boy, my friend kept texting me asking how it was going and how she strongly disapproves, haha. I asked the coffee shop guy if he would like to go meet my friends LOL. GO DEMI FOR CREATING UNNECESSARY DRAMA SINCE I KNOW THAT MY FRIENDS DON’T LIKE HIM. I figured maybe if they meet him in person, their opinions of him might change?
Meeting the Friends
Okay, so we met up at my place since my best friend, Mia, have been staying with me these past couples of weeks before she studies abroad in Europe. I know, I know, I’m pretty sad too. She and her husband were at my apartment packing so we stopped by my apartment.
Long story short, they both said he was nice.
HAHAHA. When you get your friends approval, you know it’s getting real. I’m glad that they met because it definitely changed their opinions about him. He went from being a solid red flag to maybe a light pink flag in Mia’s book.
After that, we decided to go walk around the city for a bit (just like our first date). We were holding hands and it was like everything I’ve ever imagine. He showered me in compliments, lol. Honestly, he was just the cutest and here I am, head over heels for him per usual. His mom texted him ‘spaghetti dinner at 6:30 pm’. He then asked me if I liked spaghetti. I told him, umm sure? “Do you want to come over for dinner with my family?” he asked.
Uhhh. I was hesitant. In the past four months, I’ve been going out on dates with different boys since he left (okay, well I probably went out with a total of 3 people but it wasn’t serious at all). Are we in a relationship? Does he take every girl home? I AM SO CONFUSED. What is going on? Did he invite me because I was sitting right next to him so he thought he was being polite? What if he was secretly telling himself, “oh no, I hope she says no” lol.
I’m such an overthinker and I was scared. I said, why not? What’s the worst that could happen right? He’s gonna go back to New York anyways if everything goes wrong haha. We went over to his family’s house, and I met his parents and sisters.
Meeting the Family
Okay, it was nervewracking. Just like meeting any significant other’s family. If they don’t like you, it could be a deal breaker. If they like you, then yay! I’ve had a mix of ex-boyfriends’ family liking me and not liking me. I would say 50/50 of the time. Two of my ex-boyfriend’s family LOVED me, while one said we were too young (first boyfriend in high school lol), and then one probably hated my guts – but that’s a different story for another time.
I think overall it went well. His parents asked me what I do and I told them that I was a student at Arizona State University studying Communication and Mathematics, as well as a marketing intern for THE BEST consulting firm. I usually try to avoid telling people that I run a blog – simply because I always get stuck on the question “what do you blog about?” My most recent blog posts have been about my boob job and boys. Of course, the coffee shop guy had to tell his family that I run my “own business” AKA my blog!
YUP. His mom for sure asked me what I blog about! Me, trying to quickly come up with something clever, and I stupidly said: “oh, just local events in the valley.” Good job Demi. Oh well. His family’s pretty funny, especially his sisters. They would make comments such as, “Demi probably regrets coming here” or “she’s probably never gonna call you back after tonight.” AHHH, it’s too funny. His mom jokingly told me not to write a blog post about this, but you all know me, I can’t not talk about BOYS. Although, I do want to say that this coffee shop guy is no boy. He’s a man. 😉 HAHAHA. I crack myself up.
His Reason
We talked about what had happened last time he was in town. Basically, he got carried away with his buddies during happy hour and just lost track of time – which was fine. I was just upset that I never really heard back from him. He told me that he didn’t reach out to me because he thought that I was upset at him (which I was). He was scared that I wasn’t going to respond. Another thing he told me was that he came into the local coffee shop hoping that he would run into me. HA.
In all honesty, if I saw him at the coffee shop or even anywhere else, I’d probably be upset that he didn’t reach out to me.
I’m glad we had this talk and communicated through it. He promised that he was going to make more of an effort in reaching out to me. He suggested that we could FaceTime a couple of times a week when he’s back in New York since we’re both not the best at texting. We also both agreed that we weren’t going to put titles on this relationship since he lives in the east coast and I’m on the west coast. With that being said, we’re both not going to be seeing other people. I just think it’s the most reasonable decision, but his main concern is whatever I think is fair to me. He also said he wasn’t surprised that I’ve been seeing other people in the past couple of months since I’m so beautiful. Hehe, those were his exact words, lol.
I hope I don’t turn into one of those girls who talk non-stop about their man, oops. Probably too late.
I know that in The Boy Who I thought Was The One, I said:
If there was ever a chance that this boy and I would ever end up happily ever after, then I would most likely never write about this. However, I have come to the terms that this boy and I will never be together.
But I suppose never say never. Haha, crazy. Who would have known this was going to happen because I for sure didn’t.
