Happy World Book Day (April 23rd)! As much as I want to say that reading more books is on my new year’s resolution – it is not. I actually don’t have any new year’s resolution. If I want to change a habit or implement a new habitat, I usually try to do it as soon as possible instead of waiting a whole year. It’s just more digestible and doable in my opinion.
My Current Books I’m Reading – April 2019
Nonetheless, I’ve been trying to read more marketing books – more specifically something that will help me further my blogging. Most of these books, I was able to rent through my library. If you don’t have a library card, I highly recommend you get one! Being a college student, it’s hard justifying spending ~$15 for a book that might end up being useless.
The Rich Bitch Guide to Love and Money by Nicole Lapin
Originally, I have been recommended to read Nicole Lapin’s Rich Bitch: A Simple 12-Step Plan for Getting Your Financial Life Together. A couple of people have told me that her books are pretty digestible and to be honest, I didn’t want to spend ~$15 on her 12-Step Plan yet. I noticed that her The Rich Bitch Guide to Love and Money was free on Kindle, so I figured, why not! Let’s be real, finance talk can be confusing sometimes. The Rich Bitch Guide to Love and Money is certainly a good book about mixing relationships and money. Money is such a sensitive topic for most people, but not so much for me. However, I’m super sensitive around politics and religion though, haha.
Highly recommend this book if you’re interested in learning about prenups and all that jazz- I will for sure be getting her 12-Step Plan book!
Blogger Girl by Meredith Schorr
I intentionally picked this book because I thought it was related to how to be a blogger. It turned out to be a novel about a girl who has a book review blog. While this book wasn’t exactly what I was looking for, it was quite interesting. I personally don’t like reading fiction stories – I find it to be a waste of time and rather read something that will be beneficial in my career and goals.
However, I would be lying if I said I didn’t finish this book, haha.
Dear Social Media: Do’s & Don’ts of Navigating Love in a Digital World of Likes, Lies & Stalking by Rahiel Dawit
This book was an interesting take between dating life and social media. Should you look up someone who you’re seeing on social media? There are pros and cons to looking someone up prior to going out on a first date. Some say that you’re self-sabotaging if you look them on social media because you’re already forming an opinion about them. Interesting take on both the good and the bad side. There are interesting cases such as whether or not you should share passwords or social media profiles with your significant other.
Of course, I’m on social media way too much. I looked up my boyfriend’s family before our first date just to make sure he was not crazy. Sorry, but not sorry – he knows about it and he thinks it’s reasonable since I didn’t know much about him. A good chunk of the stuff presented in this book, in my opinion, is kind of common sense. However, I’m someone who spends a third of their life on social media.
Definitely worth a shot in my eyes if you haven’t given much thought about social media in the dating world.
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life by Mark Manson
I’m an overthinker and coinciding with this book – I give a f*ck about too many things. My best friend, Mia, recommended me this book. I started this book on Audible (thank you, Mia, for my one-month subscription!), which I highly recommend if you don’t like reading but rather digest books via audio. I’m more of a visual person, so I prefer to see it in front of me.
Becoming by Michelle Obama
I would be lying if I said I finished this book. Also would lying if I said I got through half this book. I love Michelle Obama and I firmly believe she is an amazing woman. Truth be told, I couldn’t get through one chapter of this book. Honestly, do not know what to tell you all.
I’m sorry to be a disappointment lol.
Not sure when the next blog post for this “Books I’m Reading” series, but I’m excited! What books do you recommend? Leave them in the comments. I can’t wait to read more books!

These all sound so good, but I think I need to check out Manson’s book. Sometimes I care wayy to much about what others think!
