When Barnett Helzberg Jr. proposed to Shirley Bush in 1967, the love he felt sparked a thought: Everyone should feel like this. Everyone should feel loved. This wholly romantic notion famously inspired the “I Am Loved” lapel button along with ads featuring Helzberg Jr.’s own words, “Buy her a diamond or give her a button, but in any case, tell her she’s loved.”

Love can be for anyone – your partner, friends, or family members.

After hearing that story, I reflected back on all the times I’ve felt loved by my friends. There are so many times, which I am so thankful for.

One of the things I love to do is host game nights at my place. It all started when my friend was hosting a get-together at her place. I was introduced to the game One Night Ultimate Werewolf.

A little over a year ago, I used to live in a small 300-square feet studio apartment. When my lease ended, I wanted to get a place that was bigger to host a couple of friends over. I just wanted to create an environment where my friends can always feel welcomed over. In my studio apartment, you could not really do that. Literally, in my studio, it was just a mattress, a mini-fridge, and then a TV on top of that mini-fridge, haha.

Monthly Game Night

I love the game One Night Ultimate Werewolf so much that I started hosting monthly game nights at my apartment. I received the game as a housewarming present, which I am forever grateful for, haha. During my game night, I try to get food for my friends who are coming over, as well as drinks. Every time I host game night, I am always thankful for everyone who shows up.

I am grateful for my friends who take time out of their Friday or Saturday nights to play games with me. In addition, I am also thankful for those who travel to come to game night as well. Some of my friends live 30 minutes away, 2 hours away, and even an airplane flight away. My ride or die!

Buffalo Wild Wings

Another time I want to talk about when I know I am loved was when my friends, Mia and Mahrad, came to pick me up and took me to Buffalo Wild Wings. I briefly mentioned the story in “The Boy Who I Thought Was The One“. Crying and crying non-stop, I really hit a new low. I was on the phone with Mia and I couldn’t stop crying. She and her husband told me to get ready and that we were going to go get food.

They came to pick me up and took me to Buffalo Wild Wings. I honestly could never thank them enough for what they did for me. This is one of the moments I will never forget and will always keep near my heart. I LOVE YOU BOTH. 

I am truly spoiled with love by all of my friends!
