This past weekend, we did a semi-staycation in Maricopa City (not to be mistaken with Maricopa County). We stayed at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Hotel & Casino.

Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino & Hotel in Maricopa

I’ve actually been to Harrah’s Ak-Chin Hotel & Casino prior to this trip – my dad, stepmom, brothers, and I went to play laser tag right before the pandemic. My dad is a Seven Stars member, so occasionally, as a family, we’ll stay at Caesar casinos just for fun.

Golf Courses in Maricopa, Arizona

We spent Saturday morning playing golf in Maricopa city at The Duke at Rancho El Dorado. There’s a golf course (Southern Dunes) closer to Harrah’s Ak-Chin; however, we couldn’t find a tee time for that morning. I learned that Southern Dunes Golf Course is not affiliated with the casino. It is owned by the same Native American tribe, but not associated with Harrah’s.

After playing at The Duke in 100-degree weather, we decided to check-in at Harrah’s. Robert, the hotel manager, greeted us at the check-in and was very welcoming. We were able to check in early – I took the rest of the day napping before dinner.

Chop, Block & Brew

We had dinner at Chop, Block & Brew, which is a steakhouse inside the casino.

Chop, Block & Brew features a wood-burning mesquite grill. The rustic and relaxed environment serves as a perfect venue to enjoy mouth-watering steaks, prime rib and seafood. Combine your favorite dish with a variety of thirst quenchers including a large variety of draft & bottled craft beers, hand-crafted cocktails, premium Whiskey and premium Scotch.

We ordered the bone-in ribeye with a side of mushrooms, French Onion soup, and meatloaf. The food and service were great. I, unfortunately, drank too much (aka one glass of wine) and passed out right when we got back to the room from dinner.

Overall, our dinner experience at Chop, Block & Brew was great!

The Spa at Harrah’s Ak-Chin

The next morning, we had two massage reservations at The Spa at Harrah’s Ak-Chin: deep tissue and aromatherapy massage. The spa was really nice, and in the lobby, you’ll see that they have a large antique mirror collection on the wall.

After the massage, I went to the cabanas for a pool day. I love that the pool area also has a swim-up bar. It reminded me of my work trip to Cabo – it was so much fun!

The cabanas feature a mini-fridge, a safety box, and a TV. There are also nice misters to keep the cooldown.

We had so much fun sleeping in the cabanas and ordering food service.

Entertainment Center

One of the cool things Harrah’s Ak-Chin has to offer is their entertainment center. While we didn’t have a chance to visit on that side of the casino, I’ve actually gone with my dad, stepmom, and brothers before.

The entertainment center has a movie theater, bar, bowling, laser tag, and an arcade. When we went to Harrah’s Ak-Chin last time, we played laser tag with a few random kids, ha.

Overall, Harrah’s Ak-chin is a fun casino to stay in if you’re visiting Maricopa.
