My sister and her boyfriend were in town this past weekend for a weekend getaway. They rented an Airbnb in downtown Phoenix and also brought their two dogs! Because they were in town, I figured, why not take them to dinner and see a show. We decided to check out Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament in Scottsdale, Arizona.
If you’re looking for a night of jousting, horsemanship & falconry, then look no further! Besides a fun show, you’re also fed a four-course meal. This is a MUST if you have kids! I definitely plan on bringing my BBBS Little to see a show someday.
There’s also Teachers & Students and Military Discount Tickets!
Arriving at the Castle
When you get to the castle, you’re assigned to a knight, which you’ll be rooting for. There are 6 competing knights: Black & White, Green, Yellow, Red, Red & Yellow, and Blue. Additionally, they assign you a table number as well. Every party was spaced out to be 6 feet apart.
I was on the Blue Team at Table 8.
Medieval Dinner
At Medieval Times, you’re fed a four-course meal. The menu is called “Bill of Fare” and it’s printed right on the napkin! I thought that was pretty cool, although I felt guilty using my napkin since it was so fancy. Since it was the 11th century, we had to eat with our fingers!
The menu included:
- Tomato Bisque Soup
- Toasted Garlic Bread
- Roasted Chicken
- Sweet Buttered Corn
- Herb-basted Potato
- Dessert of the Castle
- Beverages
- Coffee
You can also order alcoholic beverages as well. My favorites were the garlic bread, roasted chicken, and herb-basted potato.
Note: If you have dietary restrictions, Medieval Times can accommodate – vegetarian, vegan, allergies, etc.
Medieval Times Tournament
The show lasted for about 2 hours. I won’t go into too many details since I don’t want to spoil it! I kept yelling “impeach the queen” because I’m bloodthirst and love to see the knights getting killed! I’m kidding, there’s no blood.
It was pretty entertaining and definitely kids friendly!
The horses were so well trained – it was incredible. There was a falcon too and it was crazy to see the falcon fly throughout the stadium.
My Experience Jousting
Overall, the food was pretty good and it was very theatrical and entertaining! If you have kids, this would be so much fun to watch. A few of my friends who have been to Medieval Times also loved it.
