Last month, I did a solo trip up north to Strawberry, Arizona. It’s been way too long since my last solo trip and I forgot how fun it is doing things by yourself! The Strawberry Inn invited me back to stay at one of their rooms – it’s my third time visiting them. The first time I stayed was in 2020 and the second time was in 2021.
Staying at the Strawberry Inn, Arizona on my Solo Trip
Going on the trip solo was a bit scary but also exciting! After I got settled into my room on the first night, I grabbed dinner at the Sportsman’s Chalet. A nice older man had an extra credit on the jukebox, so I got to play a song! I played the Ariana Grade and John Legend’s version of Beauty and the Beast.
Water Wheel Falls Hiking Trail, Rim Country BBQ, Danzeisen Dairy
The next morning, I started off with an iced mocha from Windmill Coffee to fuel my hike! I did a 1.6-mile Water Wheel Falls hiking trail recommended by my supervisor at work, who actually visited Strawberry a few weeks prior. The Water Wheel Falls hiking trail was about a 20-minute drive from the Strawberry Inn. You will need a parking pass to park your car that can be purchased from a kiosk a few miles before.
The hiking trail was absolutely beautiful, and the waterfalls were so soothing!
Afterwards, I grabbed lunch in Payson at Rim Country BBQ and Wood Fired Pizza and then a milkshake at Danzeisen Dairy. When I got back to Strawberry, I took an afternoon nap, and it was time for dinner!
Sportsman’s Chalet, Old County Inn
I wasn’t planning on going back to Sportsman’s Chalet for dinner because I wanted to try a new place, but I saw that they had free poker! I’ve been wanting to play Poker ever since my friends taught me how to in Rocky Point. Poker was so much fun but I don’t think I would be able to play with real money. I ended the night with some stargazing.
The next morning, before heading back home, I grabbed pizza from Old County Inn in Pine, which was also suggested by my supervisor at work. The Meat Pie was delicious – I definitely encourage stopping here during your stay!
Visiting Strawberry and staying at the Strawberry Inn was so much fun. I can’t wait to go on more solo trips and spending time by myself. The trip was so relaxing and much needed!

This place looks so adorable. I’ve never heard of Strawberry, AZ. When I was 23 y/o I traveled to Hawaii by myself. My first solo trip and it was the best experience ever. Glad you had a good time 🙂
