Hello friends! I know we’re already in December, but how was your Thanksgiving?
Tyler asked me a month before Thanksgiving what our plans were for the holiday and I said “Well, I’m going down to Tucson to see my mom!” Tyler’s face was so confused. He said “Umm. Demi, I think we’re at that point in our relationship where we include each other in our plans!”
Oops.
I suppose I might have missed the memo for that. When do you start including your partner in your holiday plans?
Before I talk about Thanksgiving, I do want to mention that I have two families. Sometimes it can be a bit confusing when I use the word ‘family‘. It’s confusing to me too. I grew up with my mom and my sister – that’s my real family. I also have a dad, stepmom, and three younger half-brothers. Usually, for the holidays, I will spend it with my mom and my sister since it’s just us three.
Back to Thanksgiving – Tyler’s brother and his family were flying in from Ohio to Arizona. It was my first time meeting Tyler’s niece and nephews and I was so excited because I LOVE kids. I don’t really see myself having kids to be honest, but I do love playing with them.
Thanksgiving Together
Since Tyler’s whole family was in Arizona and my family was honestly playing it by ear, we decided to have both families together. I was so excited yet, nervous about my mom and sister meeting Tyler’s family. Not saying I’m ashamed of them or anything, but that this was a huge step in our relationship.
Thanksgiving dinner was so much fun. I love Tyler’s niece and nephews – his niece is literally the cutest girl in the world. She asked me to sit with her at dinner and I thought that was so sweet of her. Tyler has two nephews and the older one is so athletic and it’s crazy to me how much energy the kids have! His youngest nephew is 2 years old and he’s packed with so much energy that he can run back and forth a hundred times and still have the energy to play after that. Haha, I miss his niece and nephews already.
I asked Tyler’s brother and his wife if they can send us one of their kids for a week or two during the summer, haha. Tyler said I need to learn how to cook first… Reheating frozen food counts, right?
Once the pandemic is over, I’ll definitely visit them in Ohio.
Overall, Thanksgiving was great. Everyone loved each other and we were all ready for bed by 8 pm, haha.
Tyler’s niece and one of his nephews!
My mom and sister – I’m actually the tall one and the only one not wearing heels!
Sitting at the kids’ table with Tyler’s sister-in-law, haha.
