It’s been a while since I last sat down and mindlessly shared what’s been going on in my life. There have been a lot of changes with the world. I’d be surprised if anyone doesn’t know what’s going on. One part of me is tired of hearing all about COVID-19, while another part of me finds comfort in hearing about others with similar struggles… I suppose I’m over people talking about why you should be staying home. I’m more intrigued in hearing how people are adjusting to this newly odd lifestyle.
Social Distancing Has Been Difficult For Me
Adjusting To Life With Social Distancing
I think we can all agree that life has been a little weird adjusting to social distancing and being quarantined. Whether your life barely changed or drastically changed, I can tell you that my life has changed quite a bit. I went from having a super packed schedule with working two jobs, school, meetings for my blog, and workout classes to having a pretty clear schedule.
In all honesty, my life felt like it was getting to where I wanted it to be. I was working with some of my favorite companies for my blog and was being invited to some exciting events. Currently, all of my partnerships are put on a pause and the events are canceled or rescheduled.
School transitioned to online classes and I’m honestly nervous about one of my classes. I’m constantly stressed that if I don’t pass this class, I won’t be able to graduate this May. In addition to school transiting to online, one of my jobs is on pause. For those who don’t know, I work at a nail salon during the weekends and they have temporarily closed until further notice. Luckily, I still have my job at the consulting firm, which is nice. I’m also very fortunate that I have built a life for myself where I would be okay for a couple months if I were to get laid off.
Spending More Time With Family
Due to the quarantining, I have little on my calendar and everything has become virtual video calls. I started going over to my Dad and Stepmom’s place more often to hang out with my brothers. Living an active lifestyle is such a priority to me and having my brothers staying inside was a huge concern. We bought volleyball and pickleball equipment and have been spending a decent amount of time at the park.
Don’t worry, we’ve been keeping a distance of 6 feet or more!
Staying Active
I haven’t really been working out and I know there are studios doing live classes but I, for one, do not have the motivation to participate. For me, going to workout classes is so much different than doing live classes. Whenever I’m in a class, I have this feeling that people around me are watching (and maybe judging) me so I always try my best during class. Hopefully, that makes sense!
In other news, I have been very active in terms of doing outside activities! Golf courses are still open for now and they’re such a great option since you can stay more than 6 feet apart. Many courses are doing fewer tee times and banning golf carts. Besides golf, I have also been playing volleyball and pickleball with my brothers which has been really fun!
Re-Learning Things I May Have Forgotten
Besides spending time with my family and being active, another thing I’m working on is sharpening my skills! One of the things I’m ashamed to admit is that I don’t know all 50 states and where they are located. 5th grade Demi would have been so disappointed. I’ve set out a goal to do a 50 states quiz every morning until I have a score of 100%.
What are some things you’ve forgotten but want to re-learn again?
Graduating From College During COVID-19
This one is tough for me. Although I do have a part-time job as a marketing coordinator at a consulting firm, my biggest fear is graduating college without a full-time position lined up. Recently, I’ve been having nightmares of getting laid off but at this point, my position seems promising since the industry I’m in is deemed an essential business.
We’ll just have to take this one step at a time and see where it goes!

Yes yes yes! That first paragraph explains it perfectly… I just want to hear personal stories about how others are adjusting. I don’t know why. So thank you for sharing! It sucks that you’re graduating amongst this shit storm but otherwise you’re doing amazing, girl. I’ve been staying active in pretty much the same ways you have, and I feel like I’m building a quarantine life for myself too… but mine is just a little more lonely :(. Maybe I’ll go home and visit my parents for a while. Your family visits sound really nice.

I can really relate from going to a super jam packed schedule to nothing. It is somewhat nice to not go to class then go to work and then work on my blog and homework, but like you, I feel directionless without a schedule. I am also a college student and I really hate online classes too! Hopefully, you’re able to graduate this May! I miss workout classes too. Hang in there!

I’m a homebody so social distancing hasn’t been super difficult, but I do miss going out on the weekends!

Wow, I love this! Social distancing is really difficult especially when you’re so used to having friends or people around you a lot of times. Gaaah, I’m adjusting to not being able to see my boyfriend everyday. Haha! I only see him once a week now.
Stay safe! x
