What to Expect at a Boob Job Pre-Op?
After booking my pre-operative appointment, surgery date, and post-operative appointment, there were things that still needed to be taken care of. Before I talk about the pre-pre and the pre-op, I want to discuss and clarify a couple of things from my first blog post.
What My Friends and Family Thought About Me Getting a Breast Augmentation
When I first published and shared my consultation post, I was hesitant. Like, really hesitant. Plastic surgery is still a taboo subject, maybe not as taboo as it was like 10 to 15 years ago, but it’s definitely not something that everyone is willing to openly talk about.
When I first told this girl (who I thought was a good friend of mine) about me considering getting a boob job, I remember she cut me off and flat out said, “No. Don’t do it. You’re gonna end up like the majority of these fake Scottsdale girls with massive boobs, big lip fillers, carrying useless designer bags that cost as much as a car.” Well. That did not make me feel good lol.
I am fully aware of Breast Implant Illness, also known as BII. I didn’t just wake up one day and thought to myself, “oh, I’m gonna get a boob job!” Oh no. It was months of watching pretty much every video about boob jobs on Youtube. Okay, maybe not every but you get the idea. I just felt like the chances of that occurring are so slim that I’m not going to brush the whole idea of breast implants off the table.
Please note: I’m not going for the natural look. I want a high-profile, perky look.
Preparing for Your Boob Job Pre-Op Appointment
The Pre-Pre-Operation
The first thing that needed to be taken care of was my work and internship! Working at the nail salon is pretty flexible – it’s just manual labor and clients. I don’t really have clients who schedule appointments with me regularly since I work once or twice a week. In addition, the days I do work changes roughly every 3-4 months based on my class schedule. This wasn’t an issue asking for a week or two off.
If you have talked to me in person before, you would have heard me talk non-stop about my internship. I did not want to take time off to rest or recover. Worst case scenario, I will have one of my brothers help me with my work if I can not psychically do it myself. Does anyone else feel guilty asking to switch schedules or asking for a day off? I don’t want anyone to think that I’m slacking off or being irresponsible. I emailed my boss asking if I can switch my schedule from Friday to Thursday (which she said yes!). Fingers crossed that I will be fine by Monday to come to the office. If not, then you all know I’m gonna go crazy! This is why I love my internship because I feel like I actually do matter lol.
Lab Work for Boob Job Pre-Op Appointment
After figuring out my work and internship schedule, it was time for lab work! I went to the health center at my university and let’s just say it could have gone better… I printed out the lab work order form that the patient concierge had emailed me. Gave it to the nurse, and she told me that they did not accept it. What… Not sure what happened but the nurse gave a call to the surgery office, and we waited for the patient concierge to fax over the form. The nurse then took me to a room and began to poke needles in my arm for some blood. She popped a vein on my left arm and then had to bring in another lady to the room to draw my blood on my other arm… Great, lol. It wasn’t really anything serious but I was just getting a little nervous. Haha. While I was getting my blood drawn, the nurse tried making small talk with me so she asked me what kind of surgery I was getting and I remember being so hesitant in answering her. I said “um…” probably 20 times before I said a breast augmentation.
Now we wait until my boob job pre-op appointment!
What Happens at a Pre-Op Appointment for a Breast Augmentation?
My pre-op appointment was a bit nerve-wracking, to be honest. The nurse and I went over what to do and what not to do a week before the procedure, the surgery day, and after the procedure. I don’t have much to worry about since I don’t smoke, drink, or take any medications.
They told me no fake nails and no fake eyelashes! Ahh, they said that during the procedure, they will be taping my eyes shut so chances are, I won’t have many lashes left, which sounds scary. I just took my acrylic nails off earlier this week, which was a bummer, but it’s so nice not having to worry about getting a fill and keeping up with it.
Oh well. We also took some ‘before‘ photos. Paid the rest of my balance and now we wait! I still haven’t figured out the CCs yet, but I’m going with silicone under the muscle below the fold.
T-Minus 3 days (4th January) until my surgery.
